The brothers and priests Pauline Centers Site Home Page The New American Bible The New American bible is used in Roman Catholic liturgical services in the United States. It is a translation that took 18 years to complete (1952-1970) and further decades to revise. Until Pius XII, Catholic translations of the bible relied heavily on the Latin (Vulgate) version of the bible. The Old testament was translated into English in 1609 in Douay and the New Testament in 1582 in Rheims. For centuries, therefore, the standard translation for Catholics was the "Duay-Rheims" version of the bible. New Materials If you have any questions about the store, U.S. Store

A sample passage from Matthew 26:26-29
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, "Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them saying, "Drink from it all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, from now on I shall not drink this fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it with you new in the kingdom of my Father." Then singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Oives.
