Faith in God, rest, prayer, activity and recreation are just a few of the many important elements which move the healing process along during the period of mourning. Acknowledging the fact of the loss, coming to accept it and to understand it at least in part, entering into the pain of grief and expressing it to others are some of the milestones along the journey from grief to healing. "Joy shared is joy increased; grief shared is grief diminished." This is the thread which runs throughout this little book which is filled with compassion, understanding, empathy and valuable information. Ideal for one who is in mourning, who is facing the death of a loved one, or who must minister to those who have undergone a loss. |

Reviews"How to handle the healing of grief: New title by nationally-known bereavement expert (service director, NY Archdiocese), Mourning deals with mourning as a process leading to healing following the death of a loved one. Written for those in mourning, but helpful in a step-by-step evaluation of the process for all in pastoral or health-related counseling. Compiled as a 48-page booklet with glossy cover and 26 page Introduction, it deals with 6 phases of grief plus looks at Loss as an Agent for Change (with scriptural reference), and includes notes plus two pages of helpful resources (organizations, publications, etc.)." --Crux of the News "In this very thorough analysis of mourning, the author discusses six
stages of grief: numbness and disbelief, alarm and anxiety, confrontation,
emotional upheaval, encountering the feelings of grief, and recovery."
