In his series Beholding the Priesthood: A Gospel Image Fr. Eugene LaVerdiere examines the priesthood from the perspective of Scripture. He begins with the Gospel of Luke and in exposing Luke's understanding draws conclusions about the nature of priesthood indispensible for the contemporary Church. He shows how the Gospel proclaims a priesthood that builds up community and centers the community itself on Christ. It is a program that will inspire and animate those in the priesthood now. It will inspire those thinking about priesthood to see it as a marvelous grace from God.
