Augustine, Thomas Merton, John of the Cross, Terese of Avila, C.S. Lewis, Simone Weil, Etty Hillesum, and John Henry Newman all wrote autobiographies that reflect God's transforming grace throughout the centuries. Bishop Morneau examines each of them and shows how these great stories of grace can profoundly affect our own journey of faith. By reflecting on these tremendous self-revelations, our own tendencies towards complacency and despair are swept aside.

Bishop Robert F. Morneau was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Green Bay on May 28, 1966. In 1979 he was ordained auxiliary bishop of the diocese where he is highly regarded as an author and lecturer. He has served as instructor of philosophy at Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, Wisconsin; diocesan vicar for religious; and associate pastor at Holy Redeemer Parish in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. He has also taught several courses at the Summer Theological Institute of St. Norbert's Abbey in De Pere, Wisconsin. Bishop Morneau is the author of several books, and his articles appear frequently in many periodicals. He is very popular as a retreat director and lecturer throughout the United States.
