How many parents feel frustrated in their role as their children's primary educators, feeling they don't know enough about their faith themselves. This book is based on the premise that God created each of us with an intuitive knowledge of him which can be accessed through ordinary means. It explores ways in which God and an understanding of him can be found in ordinary experience -- attendance at Mass, conversations with friends and relatives, radio and TV, books and magazines, the example of others, etc. It also provides additional catechesis in the following areas: the sacraments, the Mass, prayer, the Bible, morality, social justice, stewardship, Mary and the saints, signs and miracles, and death and the afterlife. It is the author's hope that the many examples in this book will lead its readers to strengthen their own intuitive knowledge of God and come to find him in ways they may never previously have imagined.

About the Author: The Director of Religious Education at St. Mary's Parish in Spring Lake, Michigan, James Penrice is the author of four other very popular Alba House titles: Crossing Home: The Spiritual Lessons of Baseball (1993); Goal to Go: The Spiritual Lessons of Football (1994); God Could Be a Teen, Nobody Understands Him Either: Catholic Moral Teaching for Teens (1996); and If There Is a God, Why Do I Need Braces?: The Dogmatic Teachings of the Catholic Church for Adolescents (1997). Reviews

"They know it: Whether your parishioners grew up as a Catholic or came into the Church sometime later in life, they know much of what they need to know to live a good Catholic life and be a good Catholic in this world. That point of view is reinforced in "You Know More Than You Think: Your Intuitive Knowledge of God in the Catholic Tradition," where stories and examples reveal themselves as God's truths. Author James Penrice, director of religious education at St. Mary's parish in Spring Lake, MI, shows how God can be found in ordinary times, through everyday occurrences. Spirituality and faith come from the intuitive knowledge inside us, and is reinforced from outside. He tells a number of wonderful stories to explain how people just know the truths, even if they think they don't. He also includes some extra catechesis on a number of topics: the sacraments; prayer; the Bible; morality; social justice; stewardship; Mary and the saints. Very readable and down-to-earth -- good for a returning Catholic, and RCIA candidate, or just someone with questions." --Crux of the News, January 26, 2004
